Arnvid Torarinsson

c. 900

Arnvid Torarinsson lived around the year 900 and is the third generation in Arnungatal, the genealogy of the Giske family. Some have held that he was Arnvid, the king of Sunnmøre whom Harald Fairhair defeated when he united the country. The link is disputed, because the dates do not quite fit. If it holds, the family goes back to a petty king on Sunnmøre before the unification of the kingdom.
