The letter in modern English (excerpt)
To all men who see or hear this letter, Guttorm Torsteinsson, priest at Sudreim, and Øystein Amundsson send God's greeting and their own. We make known that we were at Sudreim, which lies in eastern Skaun in Romerike, on the Monday after the Mass of Gregory (12 March) in the third year of the reign of our worthy lord, Sir Olav, by the grace of God king of Norway, Denmark and the Goths (1384). There we saw and heard Jon Gjulsson with a handshake give and convey to the honourable man Jon Martinsson three øresbol (land that yields three øre in annual land rent) in the middle farm in Vilner, which lies in the said Sudreim parish, to own for ever for him and his heirs, free and with lawful title against every man, with all the parts and rights that belong to the land or have belonged to it of old and new, outside and inside the fence. In truth of this the said Jon Gjulsson set his seal together with our seals to this letter, which was made on the day and in the year said before.

Background
Jon Marteinsson was married to Agnes Sigurdsdatter, daughter of Sigurd Havtoresson and Ingeborg Erlingsdatter, and he lived at Sudreim, the manor of the Sudreim family in Romerike. He was the father of Sigurd Jonsson, who later won Giske and became drottsete. The letter is a letter of testimony about a gift of land, and it shows how Jon gathered land around Sudreim. An øresbol is land that yields one øre in annual land rent, and three øresbol was a small share. The king at this time was Olav Håkonsson, who was king in Norway and Denmark. In his will in 1400 Jon later gave a third of all the land he had acquired in Romerike and elsewhere to churches and monasteries.
