The archbishop's list of debts and letters owed to fru Inger
DN 9/739 · [Julen 1533-34?] · [Stenviksholm?]
What the letter says
An undated list, probably from Christmas 1533 to 1534 and written for Archbishop Olav, shows what he still owed fru Ingerd Ottesdatter and which letters he wanted from her. He owed 20 våg of fish and 1 øre. He wanted back a sealed parchment letter under his and the chapter's seals from three years before, a parchment letter from her on 5 spann and ½ øre of land in perpetual ownership, a general receipt that should also cover Stjørdalen, and some other letters. Above the list the archbishop has written himself that he has paid 10 joachimsthalers.
The letter in modern English
[In the archbishop's hand above:] Paid 10 joachimsthalers [large silver coins]. 20 våg of fish [one våg is c. 18 kg] and 1 øre we owe. Likewise a sealed parchment letter under our and the chapter's seals, which we are to have back, and which was made three years ago. Likewise a parchment letter from her on 5 spann and ½ øre [land rent units] in perpetual ownership. Likewise a general receipt on parchment, and in it something is to be added about Stjørdalen. Likewise a letter on a prebend [a church office with income] [illegible]. Likewise old fru Ingerd's letter.

Background
The list belongs to the settlement between Archbishop Olav Engelbrektsson and fru Inger after the conflict of 1531 to 1532. The letter from three years before may probably be an obligation the archbishop had given around the time of Christian II's arrival, which he now wanted back once the debt was settled. The letter on 5 spann and ½ øre suggests that fru Inger was to transfer land to the archbishop, as she did in the letter of March 1534. The 10 joachimsthalers, large silver coins, were probably the payment for the 20 våg of fish, as a letter of 20 March 1534 shows. «Old fru Ingerd's letter» may refer to an older woman of the same name, but this is uncertain.
