King Frederick II allows Gjørvel Fadersdatter to add Lund cathedral chapter's two farms in Värpinge to the pledge she holds from the crown. In return she is to give the chapter two equally good farms from the pledged land. On the same day an order goes to Master Baltzer Jacobsen, who has the two farms in his keeping, to let her have them, and a covering letter to the farmers in Värpinge telling them to pay their dues to her at once. Background
Lauge Brahe died in 1567, and Gjørvel lived as a widow in Scania with a pledge of crown land. Värpinge lies just outside Lund. A pledge was land the king had handed over as security for a loan, and the holder took the income until the loan was redeemed. Having farms added to the pledge was an exchange of land to consolidate the holding. The matter points ahead to the agreement half a year later, when Gjørvel handed the Giske estate over to the crown, and the two Värpinge farms were included in the life grant she received in return. The date is given in the edition's reference [26. Sept.] in a later letter on the same matter. The place is probably Frederiksborg, where the king was in the days around.
