Original text
Forleningsbrev for Madtz Hanssen i Lund, Fru Giøruel Faddersdatters Foged, paa Afgiften af Kronens Korntiende af Hørum og Melbye Sogne i Albo Herred, kvit og frit. Udt. i Sk. R. 1, 395.
Background
The tithe was the church tax of a tenth of the harvest, and after the Reformation the crown's share of it was often granted as a fief to officials and servants. Mads Hanssen was Gjørvel's bailiff, the steward who collected land rent and dues for her. That he received a fief on the same day the deed and the life grant were issued is probably part of the same arrangement.
