The king gives thanks for the Giske estate and asks for all the deeds
KB 1580 til 83, s. 449 f. · 5. mars 1582 · Frederiksborg
What the letter says
King Frederick II has received Gjørvel Fadersdatter's deed to the crown of her land north of the mountains in Norway and in Shetland. He thanks her and promises always to be a gracious king to her. With her servant he sends the life grant of Børringe abbey, Froste district and three of Lund chapter's farms, and a deed to Värpinge farm and mill. If she wishes to exchange or sell Värpinge, she must first offer it to the crown. He also sends a letter on hunting rights. Since she has offered to give the king all the title deeds to the land north of the mountains and in Shetland, and she no longer has any use for them, he orders her to search out all such letters and titles and send them to him.
The letter in modern English
To Lady Gjørvel Fadersdatter. The king has received her deed to the crown of her land north of the mountains in Norway and in Shetland, thanks her for it and will always be a gracious king to her for the willingness to serve she has shown. The king now sends her, with her servant, a life grant of Børringe abbey with its land, Froste district and 3 of Lund chapter's farms, and a deed to Värpinge farm and mill. Since this farm and mill lie so close to Lundegård, the king wishes that, if she wants to exchange them or dispose of them in any other way, she will first offer them to the crown, which the king will acknowledge with all grace. Since, because of the provision in the letter of enfeoffment that she shall protect the game in the forests, she has asked to have some roe deer and game for her own use, the king sends her a letter that she may each year have some roe deer and large game shot in Børringe abbey's forests. She must, however, make sure that no more is shot in her name. Since she has offered to hand over to the king all the title deeds she holds to land north of the mountains or in Shetland, and she now has no use for them, while the crown has great interest in them, she is ordered to search out all such letters and titles and send them to the king.

Background
This is the king's reply to the deed of 1 March 1582. For posterity the most important part is the last order. The title deeds and titles were the proof of who owned each farm, and the old Giske letters had followed the family through inheritance for more than 200 years. When Gjørvel sent them to the king, they probably entered the chancery archive in Copenhagen. That may explain why many of the letters about Giske and Bjarkøy in Diplomatarium Norvegicum survive in Danish archives or copies. This is an inference that should be tested against the provenance of each letter. The deed to Värpinge farm and mill probably concerns the two chapter farms from the autumn of 1581, but this is not stated explicitly.
