Background
Børringe abbey was a former religious house south of Lund that had passed to the crown at the Reformation. An inspection report was a written description of the state of buildings and forest, so that it could later be decided whether the holder had kept the property in order. The home farm (ladegård) was the farm that worked the land under the abbey. Gabriel Sparre belonged to the Scanian Sparre family and was one of the heirs of Gjørvel Gyldenstierne. That four of the king's leading men in Scania were sent shows how much weight the king placed on the agreement.
