Lauge Brahe summons Lady Inger over Giske
NRR 1, s. 105 · våren 1548 (udatert) ·
What the letter says
In the spring of 1548 Lauge Brahe issues three summonses. Lady Ingerd Ottesdatter, widow of Sir Nils Henriksson, is summoned over Giske and the Giske estate, from which she took over and collected rent and land rent, and over the household goods she took from it, which he holds was done wrongfully. Lady Eline Pedersdatter (Griis) is summoned over some letters she has made away with, which were kept in Huseby church. Lauge Ulfstand is summoned over income he collected from the estate in Norway belonging to Brahe's wife Gjørvel after Truid Ulfstand died. All are to appear in Oslo on the Saturday after Midsummer Day.

Background
Gjørvel Fadersdatter had been married to the Danish councillor of the realm Truid Ulfstand, who died in 1545, and in 1547 she married Lauge Brahe. As her husband he now conducted her cases. The summons against Lady Inger shows that the dispute over what Inger had taken out of Giske was still alive fifteen years after the settlement at Bud in 1533. Lauge Ulfstand was her stepson, and the case against him concerns the Ulfstand sons having collected income from the Giske estate after their father's death. The letters in Huseby church may have been title deeds to land, but the summons does not say so. Nils Henriksson (died 1523) was Lady Inger's husband.
